It is unconscionable to euthanize animals due to lack of space. It's time to finally realize a NO-KILL New York shelter system. And NYS can assist in this effort by giving residents a tax credit for adopting shelter animals.
NYC is overrun with rats! The good news is there is an eco-friendly, animal friendly solution that has existed forever...and it's called CATS. By spaying/neutering feral cats already living outdoors and being cared for by locals not only is the cat population being kept in check, but the rats problem is solved. More Cats, Less Rats!
Most puppies sold in pet stores come from puppy mills, large scale breeders who are the single biggest offenders of animal rights. In puppy mills animals are often warehoused in unsanitary conditions, in small cages and suffering deplorable conditions. This practice needs to be stopped NOW!
Currently the Department of Health oversees animal welfare in New York. The DOH is inexperienced & ill-equipped to deal with animal issues. As a result they partnered with the AC&C leading to the death of hundreds of thousands of healthy animals. This must STOP now before the DOH pushes forward a 34 year contract!
In 2014, NYC passed the Animal Abuse Registration Act requiring animal abusers to register on a public database. Animal abusers are prohibited from owning & interacting with animals but needs to increase penalties and be STATEWIDE.
All schools should institute mandatory animal education. Studies indicate that most people incarcerated for violent crimes started off abusing animals. This education can expose young children to the plight of animals and teach them empathy toward living beings.
The number one job of NYS Attorney General is to arrest and prosecute corrupt politicians, lobbyists & government workers. New York is now the most corrupt state in the nation. There should be established throughout the New York State Attorney General’s Office an IAD – Internal Affairs Department similar to what police have. Their job would be to administer Integrity Tests to keep the system honest.
All school children in New York deserve the best education available to become the best citizens they can, whether in public school, private school, charter school or religious school. But unfortunately Yeshiva students have been consistently ignored, graduating from school with little to no instruction in basic math or the
English language! While the New York Department of Education have been alerted to this situation for years they have dragged their feet in enforcing state educational mandates and countless students have suffered as a result. This must come to an end now! As Attorney General I will go to court and mandate that Yeshivas follow the State educational rules. I will also sue the State Dept of Education and NYC's Department of Education who have refused to enforce the laws.
It is a key priority of the NYS Attorney General office to prioritze Elderlaw Protection. From Nursing Homes to Surrogates Court to protecting the transfer of assets from seniors to their children and grandchildren with as little tax consequences as possible.
